Week 7: July 11-17

 Disappearing 9 Patch

Trimming the Squares

After sewing the four large squares last week, I got ready to trim them down this week. I folded the squares in half, trimmed them, folded them again, and made the final cut. Each of the four squares were cut into four smaller squares, so I had 16 squares to rearrange.

Each block has a large square, a small square, and two rectangles.

Rearranging the squares took a while because the blocks all needed to face different directions, but blocks made of the same fabric couldn't be next to each other. With a little help from my mom, I finally figured out a good layout.

Once the layout was done, I pinned the blocks in strips going across horizontally, so they are ready to be sewn next week.

Check in next week to see how the top of the quilt turns out.
